New mental health program to launch at AWP

Ben Riley is a therapist and researcher at Flinders University and has been involved in work with prisons for more than five years.

He joined Radio Seeds to share some information about a program set to begin soon at Adelaide Women’s Prison.

This audio was produced by Radio Seeds. Radio Seeds is a project of Seeds of Affinity Pathways for Women, a non profit, volunteer run community group that supports women to support each other upon their release from prison.

We broadcast on the first Friday of every month on WOW-FM 100.5FM from 3 – 4pm (Adelaide time). If you’re not in the local area you can tune in online at wowfm.org

We aim to support women in prison, and those who have recently left, and to educate the wider community about the issues faced by women with a criminalised history.

Living with your daughter in prison

On the March program, we heard from some young women about their experiences living with their mothers in prison.

On this program, we hear a different perspective. Robyn’s daughter is currently serving time in Adelaide, she shares her story and some advice for other parents.

Photovoice and addiction

Last month, Michele shared some stories from the photovoice project and explained how it could help give a voice to women transitioning to life after prison.

Michele is a PhD student in social work at Flinders University and works with women of lived prison experience using photovoice.
